Chiropractic Care in North Vancouver
Chiropractic care at Dutton Chiropractic, is precise, hands-on and centred around how you move.
Chiropractic adjustments are one part of a broader approach that may also include movement assessment, mobilisation, soft tissue treatment and practical exercise strategies. Your care is shaped around your symptoms, how you move and what you want to get back to doing.
What Is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a hands-on healthcare profession focused on the assessment and management of neuromusculoskeletal conditions, particularly those affecting the spine, joints, muscles and surrounding tissues.
Chiropractic care isn’t simply about finding a joint to adjust. We look at the bigger picture โ including your symptoms, movement, physical activity and goals โ to develop an approach that makes sense for you.
An adjustment may be one part of your treatment, but it isn’t necessarily the whole treatment.
What Does a Chiropractic Appointment Involve?
Every appointment is different, but your care may follow a simple process:
Assess
We’ll start by understanding what’s bothering you, how it affects your everyday life and what you’d like to get back to doing. Your movement and relevant areas of the body may also be assessed to help guide your care.
Hands-On
Depending on your needs, treatment may include hands-on work for muscles and soft tissues, mobilisation and other appropriate manual techniques.
Adjust
Where appropriate, chiropractic adjustments may be used to address areas of restricted or uncomfortable movement. Adjustments are precise, controlled and tailored to the individual.
Move
Treatment doesn’t stop when you leave the table. You may be given practical movement, mobility or exercise strategies to help you continue working towards your goals outside the clinic.
Reassess
We’ll consider how you’ve responded to treatment and use that information to guide what comes next. Your care can change as your symptoms, movement and goals change.
Precise, Hands-On Chiropractic
Chiropractic adjustments are one part of the hands-on care provided at Dutton Chiropractic. Treatment is selected according to your presentation, movement, preferences and goals.
Dawn’s chiropractic training is grounded in the McTimoney approach, while her ongoing professional development will include a range of chiropractic and manual techniques. The aim is not to follow a single technique for every person, but to provide appropriate, individualised care.
What Can Chiropractic Care Help With?
Chiropractic care is appropriate for a range of neuromusculoskeletal problems, including:
Back & Hip Pain
Lower back pain, hip stiffness, muscular discomfort and some radiating symptoms.
Neck & Upper-Body Pain
Neck pain, stiffness, upper-back discomfort and shoulder-related musculoskeletal problems.
Headaches & Neck-Related Tension
Some headaches may be associated with the neck and surrounding muscles. An assessment can help determine whether chiropractic care may be appropriate.
Stiffness & Reduced Mobility
Restricted or uncomfortable movement affecting the spine or other joints.
Activity-Related Problems
Pain, stiffness or movement restrictions affecting activities such as hiking, cycling, running, skiing, golf or strength training.
This list isn’t exhaustive. The first step is understanding what’s going on and whether chiropractic care is appropriate for you.
Is Chiropractic Right for Me?
An initial assessment helps determine whether your symptoms and circumstances are appropriate for chiropractic treatment. If your presentation suggests that another healthcare professional or form of investigation would be more appropriate, you’ll be advised accordingly.
Your safety comes first. Chiropractic care should be based on an appropriate assessment, informed clinical reasoning and a treatment approach suited to your individual circumstances.
Chiropractic Care Built Around You
At Dutton Chiropactic, the goal isn’t simply to treat the area that hurts.
It’s to understand what’s affecting your movement, provide appropriate hands-on care and help you build the confidence and physical capacity to get back to the things you enjoy.
